Silver Spring, MD -- A tale of politics, greed, and the buying and selling of influence at the highest levels of power, the 2006 PBS-broadcast documentary, Bill Moyers: Capitol Crimes arrives to DVD from Athena on April 17, 2012 with more than three hour of bonus materials. Legendary Emmy(R) and Peabody Award-winning journalist Bill Moyers (PBS, NBC, CBS) explores how "super lobbyist" Jack Abramoff rode a wave of corruption to enrich himself and promote his causes - from Indian casinos in Louisiana to the Moscow offices of Russia's new oligarchs - taking down other Washington heavyweights in the process. The DVD set includes a bonus disc with Buying the War, a 83-minute bonus examination of the media's role in the 2003 invasion of Iraq; segments from Bill Moyers Journal; a 8-page viewer's guide; and much more ($49.99, AthenaLearning.com). Capitol Crimes is Athena's eleventh release from Moyers' acclaimed library of programs.

Washington super-lobbyist Jack Abramoff came to town to start a revolution but ended up running a racket. Capitol Crimes follows the Abramoff money trail from Indian casinos in Louisiana to sweatshops in the Mariana Islands, from the Capitol Hill offices of the U.S. Family Network to the Moscow offices of Russia's new oligarchs. Following Abramoff's trail before the fall, Capitol Crimes shows how Abramoff's greed swept up others in the process, including the majority leader of the House of Representatives, Tom DeLay. The two-hour documentary features bestselling author Thomas Frank (What's the Matter with Kansas?) and longtime Congress-watcher Norman Ornstein.

BONUS FEATURES: Bonus disc with Buying the War (83 min., 2007), an examination of the media's role in the 2003 invasion of Iraq; segments from Bill Moyers Journal, including A Conversation with Historian and Writer Andrew J. Bacevich (56 min.), and A Discussion with Mother Jones Contributor Kevin Drum and Washington Bureau Chief David Corn (57 min.); 8-page viewer's guide with articles on the history of the lobbying process and the federal government's safeguards against corruption, biographies of the scandal's main figures and a biography of Bill Moyers, plus more at AthenaLearning.com
