New York, NY (May 10, 2012) - What happens when everyone becomes so emotional that they literally lose their senses? And what does a star chef do when people can no longer taste his food? An unexplained pandemic of sense deprivation is the catalyst for director David Mackenzie's provocative, daring and powerful drama of loss and love, Perfect Sense. Starring Ewan McGregor and Eva Green as two damaged people who come together to face the global catastrophe, the movie arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on May 22, 2012, from IFC Films and MPI Media Group, with SRPs, respectively, of $29.98 and $24.98.

A strange wave of sadness is sweeping the globe. People are breaking down in sobbing fits, but when they regain their composure, something has changed - they have lost their senses of smell and taste. Susan (Eva Green, Camelot, Casino Royale, Tim Burton's upcoming Dark Shadows) is a scientist in Glasgow who is studying this odd pandemic. Ever since suffering her own romantic heartbreak, she has thrown herself completely into her work. Michael (Ewan McGregor, Star Wars I, II and III, The Ghost Writer, Angels & Demons) is a successful and happily single chef at a restaurant near Susan's apartment.

But when Susan and Michael meet, everything starts to change. They share an intensely emotional and erotic night just as the rest of the world is losing its sensory perception, and a serious relationship slowly blossoms. Are Susan and Michael's increasingly intense feelings for each other in spite of the epidemic, or because of it? A life-affirming look at what it means to love and be loved in turbulent times, Perfect Sense is equal parts touching romance and chilling sci-fi thriller.

The sterling cast of Perfect Sense also includes Stephen Dillane (John Adams, The Hours, Connie Nielsen (Demonlover, TV's Boss) and Ewen Bremner (Trainspotting, Death at a Funeral). Director David Mackenzie's previous films include the boundary-pushing Young Adam, starring Ewan McGregor and Tilda Swinton, and Spread, with Ashton Kutcher and Anne Heche.

Released theatrically by IFC Films following acclaimed showings at leading festivals including Sundance, Seattle and Edinburgh (where it won as Best Film), Perfect Sense received glowing critical reviews.

"In staying together as their world evaporates into darkness and silence, they are displaying what anyone in love would recognize as quiet heroism - and perfect sense," wrote Richard Corliss of Time magazine. The Village Voice's Mark Holcomb said, "David Mackenzie's rampaging-virus movie doesn't dodge genre potholes so much as it stays off that road entirely." The New York Times' Stephen Holden wrote, "Mr. McGregor and Ms. Green make an attractive couple." And New York magazine's David Edelstein said, "You've got to make room in your heart for a film in which the world ends with neither a bang nor a whimper but a cuddle."
