New York, NY - Two law-breaking goofballs have to suddenly turn into responsible grownups in the hilarious and poignant A Bag of Hammers, a story of larceny and living life on the edge. The quirky and endearing comedy, the feature debut of director Brian Crano, arrives on high-definition Blu-ray and from MPI Home Video on June 19, 2012, with SRPs, respectively, of $29.98 and $24.98.

Buddies Ben (Jason Ritter, Paper Heart, Joan of Arcadia) and Alan (Jake Sandvig, Easy A) are twentysomething L.A. slackers who celebrate their endless adolescence and take nothing seriously. They make money through a valet-parking scam (they park cars at funerals, then steal them) and by leasing their rental house next door. Their new tenant is a stressed-out single mom, Kelsey (Carrie Preston, True Blood, Duplicity), who's struggling to pay her bills and to support herself and her precocious, street-smart 12-year-old son (Chandler Canterbury, Knowing).

Ben and Alan strike up a friendship with Kelsey, but Alan's sister Mel (Rebecca Hall, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, The Town, the upcoming The Awakening) comes to believe that the boy may be a neglected latchkey kid. Mel's intervention to remedy that situation sets off a chain of startling events that elevate this comedy to something much more profound and moving, as Ben and Alan must invent the family they've always needed. Featuring touching performances from its young cast, which includes Red Riding Hood's Amanda Seyfried, A BAG OF HAMMERS is a memorable comedy about learning life's hard lessons.

Released theatrically by MPI, the movie received glowing reviews. Variety's Joe Leydon said, "A Bag of Hammers is very funny, with Ritter and Sandvig trading snarky quips to hilarious effect ... a droll, quirky comedy with a pleasant amount of heart." Erik Childress of eFilmCritic.com said the movie "turns out to be that rare tale that surprises in its maturity." The New York Daily News' Elizabeth Weitzman praised its "unexpected, and undeniably touching, sense of heart." "Ritter, Preston and Canterbury are especially great," wrote The Village Voice's Michelle Orange.
