The Lady

Starring Michelle Yeoh and David Thewlis, The True Story of Nobel Peace
Prize Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, an Acclaimed 2012 U.S. Theatrical Release,
Will Arrive on Blu-Ray ($34.98srp) and DVD ($24.98srp) on October 2

LOS ANGELES, CA - "She is a hero of mine and a source of inspiration", said Barack Obama of "The Lady of Rangoon" Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma's national heroine. And Desmond Tutu said, "In physical stature she is petite and elegant, but in moral stature she is a giant". The Lady, from director Luc Besson (The Fifth Element, Leon: The Professional), details the epic and extraordinary story of Suu Kyi and her remarkable struggles to bring democracy to her country. Starring Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Tomorrow Never Dies) and David Thewlis (Harry Potter series, Kingdom of Heaven), this acclaimed 2012 U.S. theatrical release makes its blu-ray and DVD debut this October from Cohen Media Group.

A story of devotion and human understanding set against a backdrop of political turmoil that continues today, The Lady is based on Suu Kyi's riveting and ongoing true story as the woman at the core of Burma's democratic movement. A tale of love and longing between Suu Kyi and her husband, Michal Aris (Thewlis), this powerful drama plays out against imprisonment, long separations and Burma's dangerously hostile regime. Written over a period of three years by Rebecca Frayn, interviews with key figures in Suu Kyi's entourage enabled her, for the very first time, to reconstruct the true story of Burma's national heroine.

Directed by Besson and produced by Virginia Besson-Silla and Andy Harries, The Lady includes a bonus "Making of" featurette, going behind the scenes during the filming of this remarkable story. Presented in English and Burmese, the film appears on both DVD and blu-ray in 16 x 9 animorphic format (2.35:1) with 5.1 Dolby Digital (DVD) and DTS-HD Master audio for blu-ray.
