PR Comic Legends, Liberace: Greatest Songs & A Touch of Frost: Season 14 Debuting in July

MPI Home Video

Comic Legends brings together in a single package some of the essential TV appearances of Groucho Marx, Redd Foxx, Dick Van Dyke, Phyllis Diller and Tim Conway. Liberace: Greatest Songs contains more than 5 ½ hours of his greatest performances. In A Touch of Frost: Season 14, the three latest Frost whodunits make their American debut.

Comic Legends: 4-Disc Collection

Five American comedy giants are seen in their prime as well as in their formative years in Comic Legends, a must-have DVD collection to be released by MPI Home Video on July 28, 2009. The four-disc set, with an SRP of $19.98, brings together for the first time in a single package some of the essential TV appearances of Groucho Marx, Redd Foxx, Dick Van Dyke, Phyllis Diller and Tim Conway. The four discs, all previously strong sellers individually, each include additional bonus footage and performances.

Dick Van Dyke: In Rare Form The star of his own iconic family sitcom is seen performing some of his earliest, most beloved routines on variety and panel shows -- comic gems such as Babysitting Father, Making a Letter on a Windy Corner, Daddy's Little Girls and The Tennis Champ. Van Dyke also sings with Pat Boone and Shirley Jones.

Phyllis Diller: Not Just a Pretty Face Diller, the pioneering female standup artist who became a fixture on variety shows in the 1960s, is seen delivering some of her best-known – and still witheringly funny – routines. Dean Martin and Mr. Warmth, Don Rickles, also pop up for some snappy repartee.

Tim Conway: Timeless Comedy features rare standup performances not seen in more than 40 years by the gently silly Carol Burnett Show cast member. The disc includes guest appearances by Bing Crosby, Phil Harris and Steve Lawrence, among others.

Redd Foxx & Groucho Marx The two icons headline a hilarious double bill of old-school comedy recorded in front of a studio audience. Foxx, in a no-holds-barred performance taped shortly before his hit series Sanford and Son debuted, takes on poverty, race relations, the Vietnam War and more, while Groucho, sporting his trademark cigar and deadpan delivery, interviews audience members and answers questions – with hilarious off-the-cuff brilliance – about such classic Marx Brothers films as Duck Soup and A Night at the Opera.

Liberace: Greatest Songs

Known in his later years mainly for his Vegas showmanship, his boa-and-diamond-covered costumes and his flamboyant personality, Liberace initially gained fame as a brilliant pianist of unlimited range. He delighted TV audiences beginning with his own series in the 1950s, and then through decades of appearances on all the major U.S. variety and music shows. Now, more than 5 ½ hours of his greatest performances from The Liberace Show make their DVD debut in the official collectionLiberace: Greatest Songs. The digitally remastered two-disc set arrives on July 28, 2009, from MPI Home Video.

The Emmy-winning Liberace Show originally aired in more than 200 markets across the U.S. and drew more than 30 million viewers at any one time. The immaculately dressed musician (born Wladziu Valentino Liberace) would sit at his grand piano with its trademark candelabra, introduce each song with his winning charm, and then dazzle with performances in a wide array of styles and forms, from classical to popular, jazz and folk music from around the world.

A Touch of Frost: Season 14

To the long list of British television's great crime solvers, from Inspector Morse to Hercule Poirot, Adam Dalgliesh and of course Sherlock Holmes, add Sir David Jason's Detective Inspector William Jack Frost, a moody, rule-breaking street copper who for 40 episodes over 14 seasons has sought out the unpleasant truth, often at great personal cost. The three latest Frost whodunits make their American debut via the two-disc DVD collection A Touch of Frost: Season 14, which will be released by MPI Media Group on July 28, 2009, with an SRP of $34.98.

Jason's gruffly funny, middle-aged, brush-mustached Frost frequently clashes with his buttoned-down superiors but ultimately follows his own set of rules – and gets emotionally involved – in the case at hand. Season 14 of the U.K.'s #1 rated detective series consists of three deeply puzzling mysteries. InMind Games,Frost must deal with a desperate mother and solve a 20-year-old missing person case following the discovery of a girl's remains. InDead End,afamily learns that the man whose truck killed three of their members years earlier is now driving a bus, leading to a confrontation -- and kidnapping and death. And inIn the Public Interest, the naked bodies of three young men are found at an old burial site and an American anthropologist insists to Frost that they are ritual killings. The episode guest-stars Mel Martin, a Masterpiece Theatre icon for her starring role in the classic drama Love for Lydia.

A Touch of Frost has won the U.K.'s National Television Award for Most Popular Drama, while David Jason won the award (three times) for Most Popular Actor. Jason, who was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 1993 for his services to acting and comedy, also has won the prestigious BAFTA TV Award for the comedies Only Fools and Horses and Porterhouse Blue. He is currently at work on a two-part Frost mystery that will bring the series to a close 17 years after its debut.
