Any horror fan worth their salt should go a little nutty for a Hammer film with Peter Cushing and twin Playboy centerfolds in the lead roles. This may not be the celebrated Hammer's finest work, but Cushing chews it up beautifully, the Collinson girls are eye-pealing and the new Synapse 1080p transfer is quite nice.

Fans of late-1980s action flicks should be quite pleased with Synapse Films impressive restoration and overall treatment of Dolph Lundgren's Red Scorpion, available in a new Blu-Ray/DVD Combo pack carrying an uncensored version that can be had for less than fifteen bucks.

Recommended for all those who appreciate the genre.

If the thought of nearly four hours of B-movie trailers from the late 1960s/early 1970s - blaxploitation, sexploitation, martial arts, horror, sci-fi, vengeance, etc - gets you as giddy as it does me then the 42nd Street Forever: The Blu-Ray Edition from Synapse is necessary viewing.

Recommended, but for a very select audience.

Synapse's first foray into BD is a genre-fan-favorite with this 2-disc Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack of Hammer Studios Vampire Circus (1972).An impressive transfer doesn't save the wonky bits from being any less nonsensical or incomplete, but the presentation and extras make this a necessary addition to any Hammerhead's collection.

Recommended.

Revisiting films like Patrick makes me yearn for the days of 70s horror. They just built ëem differently back then. True, this wonít win any awards for being the most rollicking genre film ever made, but if you like dollops of atmosphere with your horror, than this is as good a thriller as any. Director Richard Franklin takes what probably looked like a Carrie rip-off on paper and creates a quietly riveting ñ and spooky - slow burn. The kind of horror film that sneaks up on you and, if youíll indulge me for one quick second, that they just donít make anymore.
