Sandbox Trio

Sound And Noise Dictated By Ongoing eXperimentation - one of the mantras used by sandbox trio - describes perfectly the inspiration and intent of the group. Brought together in 1992 by the common desire to explore new possibilities of music making, the band's three members - Martin Birke, Chuck Ehlis, and Daniel Panasenko (http://home.inreach.com/panaudio/) - started out using traditional instruments but soon began incorporating homemade instruments designed and built by Ehlis.

sandbox trio went on to perform and record for the next 8 years until Ehlis' tragic death in January 2000. After 3 CDs and 2 film scores, the band made its final appearance during their October tour of Germany in 1998. The final studio recordings of sandbox trio will be released on the Frank Mark Arts label in 2001.
