Chatsworth, CA - There was a time when society asked you to hide your friendships and to accept your family...no matter what. Growing up during this time, it was expected that you do not question these customs, despite the dictates of your heart. On October 11, Image Entertainment releases 'Master Harold'...and the Boys - a moving coming-of age story set in apartheid-era South Africa. As a theatrical tour de force, 'Master Harold'...and the Boys ran for 344 performances, culminating in a Tony(R) Award for Best Play in 1982. As a film, Master Harold has all of the play's heartache and passion, and will be available on DVD for an SRP of $27.97 and on Blu-ray(TM) for an SRP of $29.97. Pre-book is September 13.

'Master Harold'...and the Boys is the story of Hally, (Freddie Highmore, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) a lonely 17 year-old caught between friendship and resentment. His closest companions are Sam (Ving Rhames, Pulp Fiction) and Willie (Patrick Mofokeng, Invictus) the family's black servants. But Hally fears and resents his alcoholic, invalid father. When he learns that his father is coming home from hospital, Hally unleashes his bitterness and rage on his only friends with devastating consequences.

Under the thumb of his father's cruelty and racism, Hally feels humiliated and ashamed. He must mend his relationship with Sam and Willie: to learn from their pride and strength, and to discover the pride in achieving something on his own.

Directed by Lonny Price, who played Hally during the 1982 stage run, 'Master Harold'... and the Boys is an unforgettable depiction of hope in the face of injustice and ignorance. Full of the best and worst of humanity, it captures all the heartbreak and dignity of one of the most celebrated plays of our time.
