PROGRAM DETAILS

On April 14, 1912, at approximately 23:40 (ship's time), the "unsinkable" RMS Titanic struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean. A modern marvel of technical mastery and nautical ingenuity, the largest passenger liner in service sunk under the waves four days into her maiden voyage, causing the deaths of over 1,500 passengers in one of the most infamous disasters of all time. As the world commemorates the 100th anniversary of the legendary tragedy with numerous events, Entertainment One (eOne) will release Titanic on DVD and Blu-ray only ten days after its premiere on ABC. Penned by Oscar, Golden Globe and EmmyAward-winning "Downton Abbey" creator Julian Fellowes and BAFTA-winning producer Nigel Stafford Clark ("Bleak House"), the innovative miniseries presents an extraordinary re-telling of the doomed voyage, cleverly weaving action, mystery and romance across four engrossing hours.

Brought to life by a stellar, award-winning ensemble cast and featuring stunning visual effects, the epic follows the destinies of the Titanic's victims and survivors as their stories of passion, betrayal and hope unfold amidst the tragic events of the ship's final hours. Shot in Budapest, Titanic features both fictional and historical characters, ranging from steerage passengers and crew to upper class guests and staff, who all come together aboard the ill-fated vessel. Home audiences will be taken on a heart-wrenching journey through Titanic's last moments.

As the centenary anniversary nears and Titanic mania begins to take hold, eOne will release three different versions of the mini-series: a 3-disc Blu-ray + DVD combo pack and individual 2-disc Blu-ray and DVD releases, each displayed inside attractive foil o-sleeves and priced at $29.98 srp and $34.98 srp respectively.

To further add to the immersive experience, Entertainment One has partnered with New York's South Street Seaport Museum for the special exhibition "Titanic at 100: Myth and Memory," which examines both the disaster and a century's worth of fascination with the ship's dramatic story. The exhibit features original objects from Titanic and her passengers - many of which have never before been publicly displayed - along with interactive elements and artifacts that show how the event has been remembered in popular culture. In addition to the letters and other documents, personal artifacts, vintage photographs and mayday communications, are artifacts illustrating the ongoing fascination with the ship's story and interpretation in popular culture, featuring production items ranging from the 1953 feature film Titanic, starring Barbara Stanwyck, to the new ABC TITANIC miniseries.

Entertainment One has also launched titanictvseries.com, a destination site rich with numerous production elements. Included is a fascinating interactive tour of the Titanic, narrated by Linus Roache, offering first-person perspectives of the ship's majestic interiors (based on the work of the miniseries' production designer), as well as immersive, behind-the-scenes featurettes, including interviews with Julian Fellowes and many members of the cast and crew.

Nigel Stafford Clark ("Bleak House") created Titanic. Julian Fellowes (2011 Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries and Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries; 2012 Golden Globe for Outstanding Miniseries for "Downton Abbey"; 2001 Academy Award, Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen for "Gosford Park") wrote the screenplay. Jon Jones ("Going Postal," "The Diary of Anne Frank," "Northanger Abbey") directs, with Stafford-Clark and Chris Thompson ("Love Actually," "No 1 Ladies Detective Agency") serving as the producers for this miniseries. Produced in association with ITV Studios and Shaw Media who are partnered with Deep Indigo Productions and Lookout Point in the UK, Sienna Films Inc in Canada and Hungary based Mid Atlantic Films to produce this UK-Hungary-Canada co-production.
