Kelly & Cal
"A wonderfully honest and tender film about the bitter pill of adulthood." Karen Valby, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
Punk rocker-turned-suburban mom Kelly (Juliette Lewis, Natural Born Killers, August: Osage County) is nostalgic for a lifestyle she can no longer have and uncertain of a future she doesn't yet see herself in. Her 17-year-old neighbor Cal (Jonny Weston, Chasing Mavericks) is having trouble dealing with the hand life has dealt him: The former jock has become confined to a wheelchair following an accident. When the two strike up an unlikely friendship that grows into something more, it's the perfect spark needed to shock them both back to life. A Harold and Maude for the next generation and featuring winning performances from its two leads, Kelly & Cal is a sweetly charming look at life's unexpected pairings. "The performances of Ms. Lewis and Mr. Weston crackle with authenticity. Like a good punk-rock song, this bracingly honest, tough-minded vignette stays true to itself," said The New York Times' Stephen Holden about this Gamechanger Award winner at the SXSW Film Festival.
